This month we were excited to interview Jason Olson, Information Technology Director at KidsCare Home Health.
Where did you grow-up and what is special about your hometown?
I grew up most of my childhood right here in DFW. I graduated from Duncanville High School back in the 90s.
How long have you been with KidsCare Home Health and what brought you to KidsCare?
I’ve been with Kidscare for just over 10 years. I came on to help build the IT department. Previously, it was all outsourced to a MSP or managed service provider.
What do the day-to-day responsibilities of your role as Information Technology Director look like?
I’m setting up projects, assigning deadlines and managing the department. Now, I’m working more on the strategy end of things and performing liaison for other department heads. Prior, I had more hands on.
What is your favorite part about your position as Information Technology Director for KidsCare?
Having the opportunity to work with new systems and technology on a regular basis. I am proud to say that we are nearly on the cutting edge of all information data operations.
When you’re not at work, how do you like to spend your time?
I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids. I’m also an aspiring guitarist and audio/video enthusiast.
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
Getting the chance to build an office department from the ground up with a Team I can depend on.
What is the greatest part of working at KidsCare?
Having the opportunity to mentor to a great group of folks. Watching them grow and expand their mastery of IT related subjects.
What is the best advice you’ve received for your career?
Don’t be afraid to take risks. You have heard the old saying “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.”
What is your favorite memory in working at KidsCare Home Health?
Recently, I miss the pre-COVID days when everyone was in the office. In the past, I miss our Christmas parties.
What gets you most excited about KidsCare’s future?
The amount of growth and possibilities we have. Cortney’s Kidscare has certainly made a great name for itself.
