Through our Monthly Spotlight Series, we are taking the time to highlight the staff at KidsCare Home Health. We hope you gain inspiration and valuable advice from these successful individuals and their stories.
This month we were excited to interview Rachelle Pitts, Director of Human Resources at KidsCare Home Health.
How long have you been with KidsCare and what brought you to KidsCare?
I’ve been with KidsCare almost two years. While HR may have some similar foundations, healthcare has always attracted my attention. When I was introduced to a healthcare organization where I would be indirectly helping kids, I couldn’t think of a better place to be. Kidscare really inspired me because of its mission and purpose. I feel more at heart helping children and knowing we are part of their everyday lives. Regardless of what department you sit in, everyone is contributing to the same mission and goal, and that is to provide quality care to our patients.
What do the day-to-day responsibilities of your role as Director of Human Resources look like?
I can say one day is NEVER the same as the next but my most important day to day responsibility is to support our small but mighty HR Team.
What is your favorite part about your position as the Director of Human Resources at KidsCare?
Being able to lead such a great team and help them to become great HR professionals along the way is the most rewarding part of my job.
When you’re not at work, how do you like to spend your time?
I enjoy spending my time with my family. I have 6 daughters – Dezeray, Mercedeez, Liz’ayah, Ariyanah and our newest additions are my 4-month-old twins, Aubriella and Averiella. Spending time with them and my 6 grandchildren is what lightens my day.
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
I would have to say my greatest achievement is who I have become today. No matter what challenges or obstacles I may have had to face, I never gave up and that is who my girls have become. To know that my girls believe anything is possible if you put your mind and heart to it is rewarding as a mom. There is no other job that can be more rewarding than being a mom to my amazing young ladies.
What do you think makes KidsCare Home Health different from other agencies?
The fact that the company listens to their employees and tries to make a difference.
What is the best advice you’ve received for your career?
If you’re comfortable, then you’re not challenging yourself! If you’re not challenging yourself, you’re not growing.
