This month we were excited to interview, Belinda Salinas, Director of Medicaid Ops (TX). Belinda is KidsCare’s longest working employee and has been with us for 15 years this month! During her time at KidsCare Home Health, Belinda has had a part in many different positions revolving around billing, processing and office management – making her an expert on the inner workings of KidsCare. In her current role as Administrative Operations Manager, Belinda oversees the training and processes of all administrative employees in the company, as well as managing all administrative functions in the Fort Worth office.
Where did you grow-up and what is special about your hometown?
I have been a Texan all my life and grew up in Dallas County.
What was the main reason you wanted to work at KidsCare Home Health in 2004?
I saw this was a new company and I felt it would be exciting to work for a new company and see it through its growth – Not knowing I would stay this long and see it grow this much! I also wanted to be a part of something that makes a difference in the lives of little children.
What is your favorite part about your current position as Director of Medicaid Ops?
I like that every day is different and every day is a new challenge; therefore, I’m always learning. I love being innovative and brainstorming new ideas for efficient processes.
Over the last 15 years, what changes have you seen in KidsCare Home Health?
I have seen KidsCare’s evolution of success and it’s been an awesome thing to witness. I have seen the struggles and/or triumphs it has taken to get where we are today. Over time KidsCare Home Health has gone through several changes. When I first started KCHH we didn’t have an EMR and everything was on spreadsheets. KidsCare Home Health is currently on its 3rd EMR. Another big change has to be the exploding growth and the opportunities it has created for employees to grow within KidsCare Home Health.
When you’re not at work, how do you like to spend your time?
I enjoy spending time with my 3 boys and when they’ve had enough of me, I like to spend my free time in the gym.
What do you think makes KidsCare Home Health different from other agencies?
I feel KidsCare Home Health has always done the right thing and goes above and beyond to be an ethical company. We pride ourselves in working in the most effective and efficient way possible.
What is the best advice you’ve received for your career?
Push yourself but know your limits. It’s okay to say, I’ve reached my limit.
What advice would you share with someone who is just starting out in the industry?
Work Hard/Play Hard. Good work ethic shows dedication and commands respect.
What is your favorite memory in working at KidsCare Home Health?
Christmas potlucks in our first office. We would come to work wearing PJs and watch a Christmas movie. It was different at that time as we were a lot smaller.
