Through our Monthly Spotlight Series, we are taking the time to highlight the staff at KidsCare Home Health. We hope you gain inspiration and valuable advice from these successful individuals and their stories.
This month we were excited to interview Ashley Davis, Director of Community Relations for the West Region of KidsCare Home Health.
Where did you grow-up and what is special about your hometown?
I grew up in a small town in Texas from 3-18. The most special thing about my hometown is the one and only Boo-Ray’s of New Orleans. I had the pleasure of working there in high school and college.
Where did you go to school for college?
I attended the University of North Texas graduating with a degree in Marketing with a concentration in Professional Selling.
How long have you been with KidsCare and what brought you to KidsCare?
On February 17, 2015, I started my first job outside of college with KidsCare as an interim employee which has turned into 5 and ½ years spanning from Austin to Houston to Colorado to Idaho!
What do the day-to-day responsibilities of your role as Director of Community Relations look like?
My day to day responsibilities involve ensuring our community providers receive the highest level of customer service and receive timely updates from our office and CRs. To ensure this, I routinely ride-along with each West CR to assist in any difficult conversations, cold calling and expansion of areas. Another large responsibility of mine is business development. In Colorado, we’re expanding our lines of business to include Family CNA and Nursing services which I’m helping grow with our new Director of Nursing, Erin Custer and administrator, Erin Carter. We expanded to Idaho in June 2019 with Oregon on the books.
What is your favorite part about your current position as Director of Community Relations for the West Region?
Unlike most people, I love change and love a good challenge! I love meeting new people, cold calling and building programs from the ground up. The Western Division’s main focus is expansion, developing new lines of business and growth. I enjoy having the opportunity to inspire, motivate, and educate my team on changing policies, marketing strategies and sending encouraging/goofy gifs back in forth via text. I love being part of a small team that truly feels like family.
When you’re not at work, how do you like to spend your time?
While not working, I love to snowboard/snowshoe in the winter and hike/layout in the summer with my husband and friends. We have 3 animals (Zuma, Oliver and Thumper) who I love to play with and cuddle after a long day of work. I’m also a “wino” so I love to try new wines with a yummy charcuterie board!
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?
Achieving employee of the year in 2017. I look up to MJ Roark as a role model and leader, and she achieved this goal in 2014 and it was always something I worked towards and admired!
What is your favorite memory in working at KidsCare Home Health?
After 5 ½ years, there’s a vast variety of memories from hitting 100/200 referrals a month to different team building events like Top Golf, Go Carts, and Axe Throwing. However, I’ve dreamt of living in Colorado my entire life. My uncle moved there at age 18 and my parents took us every winter to ski. The Bakers and upper management asked me to help lead the first out of state expansion to Colorado and KidsCare helped that dream come true!
