Kayla’s journey to becoming a nurse started with a deep desire to serve others. After studying theology, she realized she wanted a career where she could make a direct impact on people’s lives. A Typical Day as a KidsCare Registered Nurse

- Clocking in & Receiving a Report – Checking in with the night shift nurse to understand the patient’s overnight status.
- Vital Signs & Morning Routine – Taking vitals, administering breathing treatments, and preparing the child for the day. Therapy Collaboration – Some patients have physical, speech, and/or occupational therapy sessions multiple times a week. Nurses often assist with these sessions and help to reinforce therapy exercises.
- Daily Activities & Medical Care – In addition to medical interventions, the job includes playing, engaging, and providing emotional support to young patients.
Some pediatric patients require 24/7 nursing care, meaning shifts are typically 12 hours long, either during the day or at night.
The Challenges & Rewards of Pediatric Home Health Nursing
Like any nursing role, the registered nurse job responsibilities in home health come with unique challenges:
