Licensing & Certification Requirements in Austin
The following are certifications and licensing requirements* for occupational, speech, and Austin physical therapy jobs:
Physical Therapist
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) – or equivalent accredited degree
- Must be a CAPTE-accredited program
- Pass the National Physical Therapy Examination
- Application through Texas ECPTOTE, including state requirements
- Completion of Texas Jurisprudence Assessment Module (TX JAM)
- Fingerprint-based criminal history check
Occupational Therapist
- ACOTE-accredited OT program (bachelor’s or master’s)
- Pass the NBCOT (National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy)
- Complete supervised fieldwork (internship / clinical experience) requirements
- Completion of the Texas Jurisprudence Exam
